About The Samberg Family Foundation

The Samberg Family Foundation (SFF) is a private charitable funder based in Arlington, Virginia. Founded in 1995 by Rebecca and Arthur Samberg, the Samberg Family Foundation strives to improve the world, and specifically the New York metropolitan area, by supporting education, healthy living, and Jewish life.

In addition to promoting quality youth education and healthy living for families in low-income areas, the SFF is dedicated to honoring the New York roots of its founding family. While the organization funds grants for national and international initiatives, it maintains a special interest in the New York City region. Currently, many of the SFF’s active grants provide financial support to organizations in Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.

The SFF possesses a deep respect for Jewish culture and traditions, and uses fundamental Jewish values to guide its operations. The idea that people have a duty to help repair the world is a traditional Jewish belief. This belief helped to inform the SFF’s mission to help groups that provide quality education and health services to those who might not otherwise have access to it.

Because the Samberg Family Foundation desires to support initiatives that offer long-term services, it awards grants to groups that have proven successful over a significant period of time, and that have shown the potential for substantial growth. SFF directors and staff seek out grant applicants who are dedicated to promoting education, health services, or Jewish life, and whose goals and values align with those of the SFF. In addition to offering stand-alone grants, the SFF occasionally acts as part of a group of funders to provide joint support for an organization.
